𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 VVSEAI 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺: Alex Nguyen

We're excited to share our "𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 VVSEAI 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺" series to introduce the wonderful, multi-faceted talent we have in the Vertex Ventures SEA & India! For the month of October, we would like to introduce our colleague Alex Nguyen based in Ho Chi Minh City.

1. What did you do before Vertex and what did you study?

Before joining Vertex, I worked as an Investment Analyst at SK Vietnam, the private equity investment arm of SK Group. SK Group is the second largest conglomerate in Korea, with a portfolio of over US$2 billion in Vietnamese consumer, retail, and healthcare companies. I appreciated having the opportunity to participate in the full investment cycle, which included the pre-deal and execution phases, as well as post-deal portfolio management work that helped improve our portfolios' business performance.

2. What is one thing you most enjoy about working at Vertex?

The thing I enjoy most about working at Vertex SEA & India is the diverse cultural and professional backgrounds of our colleagues. Being part of this team has helped me develop a multi-perspective approach to business analysis and learn about new business models and industries that are thriving in other countries. The insights are shared weekly through our internal discussions led by a team of seasoned investment professionals who are all very hardworking and diligent in their roles.

3. Tell us something we didn't know that you do outside of work.

I enjoy playing video games and poker in my free time. I’m also occasionally picking up pickleball when my games are being updated.
