Vertex Ventures SEA Portfolio top-funded insurtech, Sunday, adds heavyweight talent to its team

10 May 2022, Singapore - Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia's portfolio Sunday Ins Holdings Pte. Ltd. (“Sunday”), the full stack insurtech group, today announced Ryuji Wolf as Chief Financial Officer and a member of its executive leadership team. This comes as Sunday continues embarking on rapid innovation-in-action and driving accelerated growth in key insurance verticals of healthcare, electric vehicles and electronics across the region. The group has attracted strong interest from global investors since its launch in 2017, as insurance continues its ascent to be the new core of the fintech disruption.

Ryuji spent over a decade working in international markets such as New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo as an investment banker in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications sector. Ryuji joins from J.P. Morgan, where he served as Executive Director and led the Consumer Internet & Media investment banking for Asia Pacific. He has led over $90 billion worth of successful M&A deals and capital raise executions, and has also advised executive management teams in building and transforming their emerging growth businesses into Fortune 500 companies over the course of his career.

This senior appointment follows from the  recent $45 million series B round last year that saw participation from new heavyweight investors such as Tencent, Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia and India?, Vertex Growth, SCB 10X, Granite Oak and Aflac Ventures. Since then, a string of senior executives across the region hailing from PWC, Cigna, Avrist and SCB Tech X have also joined Sunday. These executives have assumed key positions, collaborating with existing data, technology and insurance work groups to drive Sunday’s rapid growth in Thailand and Indonesia
