How Licious was founded after a messy episode of soan papdi packaging

Licious | 04 Oct 2021

Within six years, online meat delivery platform Licious has created an impressive and niche space for itself in the market. It continues to disrupt the animal protein space in the country. But it all began with a messy episode.

Vivek Gupta was still with Helion Ventures when Abhay Hanjura first pitched the idea of Licious to him. But Vivek dismissed it since he had recently invested in Bigbasket. Fortunately, Abhay didn't give up and planned to demonstrate why his idea would work.

“I had to call Vivek home for lunch and ordered a chicken dish from this company that was there. We received a soan papdi box that was dripping, stinking and had half-green, half-brown met that splashed on his fancy VC clothes," Abhay recounted... An irritated Vivek groaned, "What the hell!"
