Vertex Ventures SEA & India’s Mixer 2024: Innovation and Investment in Vietnam

On August 23rd, 2024, we hosted our first mixer in Vietnam at the Blank Sky Lounge in Ho Chi Minh City. The event proved to be a resounding success. Vertex Ventures SEA & India set up our Vietnam office in late 2023 and recently convened our biannual review meeting in Ho Chi Minh City. The mixer underscored our commitment to the Vietnamese market and our support for innovation and entrepreneurship in one of Southeast Asia's most promising markets.

A Gathering of Influential Leaders and Innovators

The mixer hosted over 150 attendees, including colleagues from our team across India and SEA, as well as founders, partners, and investors from Vietnam’s vibrant startup ecosystem. Among the attendees were Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, and Mr. Jaya Ratnam, Singapore's Ambassador to Vietnam.

Deputy Minister Bich Ngoc emphasised the need for a more vibrant innovation ecosystem in Vietnam, highlighting the crucial role that venture capital investors play in nurturing this growth. Ambassador Jaya Ratnam reiterated Singapore's commitment to strengthening economic ties with Vietnam, noting the significance of regional cooperation in building a thriving innovation environment.

VVSEAI Investment in Vietnam: Metub

Vertex Ventures SEA & India’s first investment in Vietnam was in Metub.

Founder Phuong Ha and her team are on a mission to build a creator economy platform that, harnessing the power of both technology and creativity, is able to unleash the superpower of its creators to not only spark joy amongst their audience but also turn their passion into sustainable careers and businesses.

Metub’s story reflects the vibrant opportunities within Vietnam's digital and tech sectors and aligns with our strategy of investing in high-potential startups that lead in innovation.
