We're excited to share our "š š²š²š ššµš² VVSEAI š§š²š®šŗ" series to introduce the wonderful, multi-faceted talent we have in the Vertex Ventures SEA & India! For the month of August, we would like to introduce our colleague Himanshu Jain based in Bengaluru, India.
1. What did you do before Vertex and what did you study?
Prior to joining Vertex, I was an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Co., where I worked on strategy, business transformation, and due diligence studies. In the later part of the tenure, I focused on Digital and Analytics transformation projects across various sectors such as Chemicals and Agriculture, metals, tech & media. I also led annual Digital and Analytics summits organised by McKinsey that saw participation from 100+ CEOs and CXOs across various industries.
Before starting my corporate career, I completed my undergraduate studies in Mechanical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. After that, I earned an MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta.
2. What is one thing you most enjoy about working at Vertex?
I have really enjoyed working with my colleagues here at Vertex. Given the diversity in backgrounds and geography, I have learnt immensely from the various perspectives and discussions around various business models during the Investment Committee (IC) meetings. Being a global fund spawning across multiple geographies such as US, Israel etc., I found cross pollination of learnings really helpful in sharpening my investing acumen.
3. Tell us something we didn't know that you do outside of work.
In my free time, I love to read, write, and sketch and have found a new interest in doodling and comic writing! I also love travelling. Having backpacked across almost all countries in Europe and US, I am exploring Asian and African landscapes now. Also, being an avid Liverpool FC fan, IĀ am always up for playing or watching football!
